Surrogate children
People make choices according to their likes and dislikes but sometimes people have to choose as they have no available option. Just like people who are childless and cant have children of their own due to some medical problem they opt out for surrogate arrangements. They are happy with these arrangements as this way they can get the genetic bonding with their children.
This happens when people are unable to have their own child they start adopting these methods in order to make their parenthood a reality. Different people have different problems related to giving birth and so they opt for the surrogate mother to carry their child during pregnancy. And after the birth of the child the surrogate mother gives the child back to the parents and this way these people can enjoy their parenthood with the greatest of joy.
Risks Involved:
There are certain risks involved so couples take their time to think out so that they can make the right decision. Being a surrogate mother is the best gift that you can give a childless couple but it sure can also be the hardest thing that you have gone through.
Sometimes surrogate mothers have never been pregnant before and experienced the ups and downs that are connected with it. Plus they are also not aware of the physical changes that are associated with it.
At times surrogate mothers are also nervous and confused because they seem to get attached to the child during the pregnancy and a connection develops between the two.
Children born to a surrogate mother or the one that is conceived through a donated sperm or donated eggs do well psychologically. But people are more concerned about the children that are born through assisted reproduction programs may suffer low esteem or can be treated less positively by their Parents.
Parent child relationship
Many people would usually be confined to the thought of parents being harsh or less caring for their surrogate children. Well, that may be a picture that would come to the mind; however this may not always be the case. Consider for instance, many single parent families too have, parents getting married but the relationships with the step children remains so intact as if they were their own.
The Family and Child Psychology Research Center conducted various experiments and researches, which lead to the discovery that surrogate mothers did not have much problems associated with giving up the right for the surrogate child to any other mother or indirect foster family. And also to their surprise saw that mothers who would usually plan the surrogate pregnancies to have a child in their family were seen to be more affectionate, caring and showed more warmth to these children than genetic mothers.
In conclusion, it has been seen in several different parts of the world that the natural mothers contracting their pregnancies practice their way to keeping them emotionally detached with their babies before birth and so contracting out them to others seems acceptable to many developed nations today.
